I Covered My MacBook in Stickers and I Don’t Regret It

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think there’s a problem with adding stickers to your MacBook. If you’re not looking to resell your MacBook for more than parts, then covering your MacBook in stickers is the best way to express who you are.

I Don’t Plan to Resell My MacBook

Over the last decade, I’ve owned several MacBooks. The first was a MacBook Air that I kept in pristine condition. But the next two MacBooks I owned were covered in stickers. To some people, this might seem crazy!

Here’s the main sticking point. The resale value of a MacBook is typically much higher than that of other brands. So, pasting stickers on the shiny new surface of your expensive laptop is a fast way to devalue it.

However, what I’ve come to realize is that I never end up selling my MacBook anyway. I use it till it basically falls apart. For example, I’ve been using my MacBook Pro daily since 2017. I’ve knocked it around in my bag, taken it on international trips, and at one point, even accidentally spilled water on the keyboard.

With the keys falling off now, I’m not expecting to make much money from selling my Mac. At this point, stickers on the cover are the least of my problems if I wanted to sell it.

I worried a lot more when I was trying to preserve the perfect surface of my MacBook than when I put stickers all over my laptop. With each scratch or knock, I somehow felt like a bad Apple device owner. By adding stickers, I stopped stressing out about keeping my Mac in good condition.

It’s your laptop. Use it, move it around, take it on your travels, and personalize it to make it your own!

My MacBook Looks Entirely Unique

Macs are ubiquitous. I see them everywhere. From the library to the study hall, office, or the airport, they’re easy to spot and express a certain status about the user. But to most people, you probably just look like another MacBook owner.

Whether you own a 16-inch MacBook Pro or 13-inch MacBook Air doesn’t really matter. You look just like the next person sitting in the café with a MacBook.

Covering your MacBook with stickers makes your laptop unique. And in many ways, it’s a bold move. Yes, my computer costs a crazy amount of money, but my stickers say that I don’t care!

Stickerbombing your laptop is a fantastic way of expressing your personality and tailoring your MacBook to suit you. This is nothing new. Apple offers iPhones and Apple Watches in different colors and styles. There’s a desire to be at least a little bit different. Putting stickers on the surface of your laptop is a far cheaper way of doing it.

As an added benefit, you’ll never mistake your computer for somebody else’s when you’re going through airport security. You’re also less likely to advertise to thieves that you own an expensive laptop.

When you know that you’re going to use your MacBook for its full lifespan and want to make your laptop look entirely like your own, throw caution to the wind and slap some stickers onto it. Looking back over the years, I have no regrets
