Ever since the Switch 2 was confirmed, fans have been chomping at the bit for any crumb of information about the console’s release. Fortunately, Nintendo has broken the silence surrounding its new hardware, albeit it’s not the device you’re thinking of. The company has revealed the “Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo,” and while it’s not a portable console, it’s still a fun setpiece for anyone who’s a fan of plumbers in iconic red suits.
You Can Now Buy the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo and Wake Up in Style
The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo is an alarm clock with a twist. It has five themes based on the best Nintendo Switch games available: Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure. If you connect it to your Nintendo account, the alarm clock will grab new themes as they arrive, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing themes already available to download. Each theme plays a track from the selected game when the alarm sounds; for example, the Super Mario Odyssey theme plays Jump Up, Super Star to energize you in the morning.
Fortunately, the Alarmo is more than a fancy clock. It uses sensors to detect movement and encourages you to get out of bed with some fun theming. For instance, setting the alarm to the Super Mario Odyssey theme will play coin noises every time you move, while Splatoon 3 will re-create the soundscape of a tough Splatfest match. Once you’re up, the alarm automatically turns itself off, complete with a special fanfare.
While the Alarmo can tell when you’re getting out of bed, it can also tell when you’re not. It’s programmed to ramp up the alarms the longer you stay in bed, meaning that Mario’s cheerful tunes will morph into Bowser’s theme if you decide to sleep in. Plus, the alarm can play peaceful sounds when it’s bedtime, which makes it a lovely bedside companion for the Nintendo fan.
If you want one for yourself, head over to the Nintendo Store and grab it for $99.99.
