Apple Is Starting a “Week of Announcements” on Monday

Apple is planning to end October on a high note. A company executive has just teased a week of Mac-centric announcements starting Monday.

Rumors Point to M4-Powered Macs

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Greg Joswiak recently posted on X:

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to roll out a new lineup of Macs with the M4 chip.

To begin, we’re expecting a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip. Also expect MacBook Pro models with the faster M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. The laptops will reportedly not feature any design changes, but will apparently start with 16GB of RAM instead of the previous 8GB.

The updated Mac mini is expected to receive a new design along with the M4 chip. The machines will be closer to the size of an Apple TV and feature two USB-C ports on the front.

The iMac will only receive an M4 chip with no design changes. But it’s expected that the accessories—Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse—will move to USB-C charging and away from Lightning.

iOS 18.1 With Apple Intelligence Lands Monday

Along with the week of new Mac announcements, Apple will also release new software on Monday, Oct. 28—highlighted by iOS 18.1.

The new software will feature the first round of Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models. Some of those include improvements in the Photos app, a new look for Siri, and Writing Tools to help tweak text.

iOS 18.1 also brings a suite of hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2 users. Most notably, AirPods Pro 2 can act as hearing aids if a quick test finds hearing loss.

Along with the new iPhone software, Apple Intelligence will be available on compatible devices with iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. Earlier this month, Apple unveiled a new iPad mini that can take advantage of new AI-powered feature set.

Other software updates arriving on Monday include watchOS 11.1 and tvOS 18.1 for the Apple Watch and Apple TV, respectively.
