The Google Pixel November Update Introduces a Battery Saving Feature… for Some People
As reported by Phone Arena, the Android 15 November update has begun its big rollout. People have been checking out all of the new features, but one that has stood out was a new battery saver feature. When enabled, it only charges your Android phone to 80% each cycle.
It may seem weird that people have been getting excited over a feature that reduces their battery charge, but it’s a good idea to enable it if you want to maximize your Google Pixel phone’s lifespan. Lithium-ion batteries prefer to stop charging at 80%; going to 100% every time will eventually erode the battery’s capacity.
Some phones limit battery charging by themselves (for instance, iPhones can automatically stop charging at 80%), but otherwise, you need a third-party app or good timing when unplugging your phone. Fortunately, people who want to take care of their Pixel batteries now have an official way to do so.
There’s just one thing: not everyone is getting this feature. Some people are reporting that they can find it in their settings, while others can’t. It’s likely that Google is doing a phased rollout of this feature, so if you can’t seem to find it on your own Pixel, it’s worth waiting a few days before assuming it’s an error.
