Opera Embraces Hygge and Wants to Invite You Along
Opera is inviting you to apply to fill one of ten slots in unique and beautiful cabins across Norway. If successful, you’ll head to a cabin and sit and use the Opera browser for a week, browsing in the coziness and calm of your new surroundings.
The Norway-based browser company has rolled out a series of updates to fit the “hygge” concept, focusing on upgrades to its Opera One R2 browser (and other upgrades, like integrated tab commands). In 2024, Opera pushed “Tabfulness” and invited one person to a remote Icelandic island. Now, in 2025, they’re expanding the number of invitees to ten.
Jan Standal, VP at Opera said:
We’re developing a browser that captures the Scandinavian essence of a simple, unassuming life – one that leaves stress behind and helps our users focus on what matters the most. We’re used to hygge in Scandinavia, but now we want our worldwide community to understand what that concept means in practice.
All you have to do is explain to Opera why you should be one of the people picked to sit and browse at a hygge desk. Opera’s hygge desk application is open now, and you can supplement your application with images to hammer home why you deserve the trip.

I don’t know about you, but spending a week browsing the web from somewhere completely different sounds great. Opera will get you to Norway and the cabin; all you have to do is bring your laptop and other hardware to work on during your trip.
