Google has officially released a Gemini update that will continue to bridge the gap between email correspondence and scheduling. Now, with a Workspace account, you can add an event to your Google Calendar without leaving Gmail.

Gmail and Google Calendar are far from strangers. Google has already created synergy between the apps, from automatically creating calendar events for flight and restaurant reservations, to the handy Set up a time to meet tool in Gmail. With the induction of Gemini, Google can expand connectivity even further.

As announced on Google’s blog, eligible Google Workspace accounts can enable Gemini to analyze emails for signs of calendar-related content and offer an Add to calendar button for applicable messages.

The calendar button will appear directly below the subject. When you select it, Gemini will show you the created event in a sidebar on the right. If you need to make changes, you can tap the pencil icon for edits.

Emails for which Gmail already produces calendar events, like flights, will not get an Add to calendar button.
